The Varian SonArray
The SonArray™ module is an advanced, high-precision patient positioning platform designed for IMRT radiation therapy. SonArray integrates RadioCameras™ SRS/SRT optical tracking devices with 3D ultrasound reconstruction technology to position the patient so the internal target is precisely at isocenter, for each fraction .
Extra-cranial Radiation Therapy
SonArray provides up to date target localization information for patient positioning in extra-cranial radiation therapy procedures by providing a real-time 3D reconstruction of the target at time of treatment. The operator positions the patient using the treatment room lasers and acquires the target volume using SonArray's 3D ultrasound capabilities. To localize the position of the target precisely and easily, CT contour volumes previously acquired are mapped to a 3D rendering of the ultrasound acquisition. The operator can then utilize SonArray's real time positioning status screen for adjusting the treatment table to reduce localization variances. Integrating 3D ultrasound technology with digital patient localization allows internal organs to be positioned precisely to isocenter, supporting a highly conformal treatment protocol.
